Soldier's Notes
Private Reuben B. George, Company K, was a farmer before the war. He was born in West Fairlee, Vermont and died on November 8, 1862 in hospital at Fort Wood (Bedloe's Island) where Lady Liberty now stands in New York Harbor. Private George had been discharged for medical disability on November 11, 1862. He is buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York.
Captain James Byron Brooks, Company I, was wounded in the course of the Battle of the Wilderness on 5 May 1864.
